About Us & How To Join

The Medical Nutrition Practice Group (MNPG) has been renamed to

Dietitians in Medical Nutrition Therapy (DMNT)

MNPG has evolved over the past decade but our mission remains to empower our members to be the recognized leaders who provide exemplary nutrition care. Since the group formed we have welcomed the Infectious Disease Subunit (IDN), the Dietitians in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Subunit (DPMR), and the Dietitians in Gluten Intolerance Diseases Subunit (DIGID). In 2015, the group added a new subunit for Cystic Fibrosis Dietitians (CFN) and in 2018 expanded the DIGID subunit to include Dietitians in Gluten and Gastrointestinal Disorders. These updates were driven by changes in the field of dietetics, particularly the growth of sub-specialties among clinical dietitian nutritionists that practice medical nutrition therapy. We recognize the increased importance of providing exemplary evidenced-based medical nutrition therapy and continuing to be the recognized clinical nutrition experts.

Based on member feedback and analysis done by our executive committee and volunteers, we recognized that our brand identity could be improved.  We are a diverse group of professionals that practice in a wide variety of settings including hospitals, long term care and assisted living facilities, outpatient clinics, private practice, industry, and corporate wellness programs. Some of us are generalists, while others are specialists, but we all believe in the importance of prescribing evidence-based MNT to patients and clients. Therefore, we feel our new name, Dietitians in Medical Nutrition Therapy, will better represent the practice of all our members.
